Food and Learning
A key context for learning at Doune is centred around food. Cornerstones of this context have included our 'Kids Kitchen' and annual 'Gala Dinner'. We hope to be able to resume these excellent contexts as Covid restrictions are removed.
The 'Kids Kitchen' is our fully functioning kitchen where children from each stage of primary and nursery learn how to prepare, cook and serve food. We aim to use locally produced food wherever possible and even produce from our garden when available.
The 'Gala Dinner' is an excellent learning context currently undertaken by Primary 3. The team and Head Chef at Cromlix House visit Doune to share learning and skills about food journeys, preparation and serving with our young learners. The project culminates in a three course meal prepared in school by the Cromlix team with the aid of P3 pupils. Parents and special guests are invited to this prestigious event where P3 host, prepare and serve.
